How to See Your TikTok Watch History

Updated · Tikvue Guides

Short answer

In the TikTok app, go to Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Activity center → Watch history. You'll see the videos you watched while logged in, newest first, and you can delete single videos or clear the whole list there. On a computer the option depends on your browser version; if it's missing, use the app or request your data download.

How to see watch history on TikTok (iPhone and Android)

Go to Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Activity center → Watch history. TikTok watch history is a private, chronological list of the videos you watched while logged in, and it's the fastest way back to a video you scrolled past. Step by step in the current app:

  1. Open TikTok and tap Profile in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Tap the Menu ☰ icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Settings and privacy.
  4. Open Activity center.
  5. Tap Watch history. Videos are grouped by date, with the most recent at the top. Tap any thumbnail to play it again.

Older versions of the app put Watch history directly in the Settings and privacy list, under a section called Content & Activity. If you don't see Activity center, look there, or update the app. The exact labels can vary by app version and region, but the feature is the same.

How far back does TikTok watch history go?

The in-app list covers roughly the last 180 days, according to multiple sources at the time of writing. That window has changed before: early versions of the feature only kept 7 days. If you're looking for something older than that, the in-app list won't have it, but your full data download might (see below).

How to find a specific video in your watch history

Jump to the day you saw it, filter search results to watched videos, or check your likes, favorites and messages first. Scrolling through months of thumbnails is slow, so these shortcuts help:

  • Jump by date. The list is grouped by day, so think about roughly when you saw it and scroll to that section.
  • Filter search results to watched videos. In recent versions, when you search for a keyword you can open Filters and limit results to videos you've already watched. This option isn't available in every app version or region.
  • Check likes and favorites first. If you liked or saved the video, it's in the Liked or Favorites tab on your profile, which is often faster than watch history.
  • Look in your messages. If someone sent you the video, it's still in that chat in your Inbox.
  • Search by sound or hashtag. If you remember the song or a caption word, searching it often surfaces the same video.

How to see watch history on TikTok PC

On a computer, sign in at tiktok.com, click your profile picture, open Settings and look for Watch history under the activity or privacy section. Not every account has it in the browser, because support on the web has been rolled out unevenly. If it isn't there for you, you have two reliable options:

  1. Use your phone. Watch history is synced to your account, so videos you watched on PC while logged in appear in the app's list too.
  2. Download your data. In the app or on the web, go to Settings and privacy → Account → Download your data, choose TXT or JSON, and request the file. It takes a few days to prepare and includes your video browsing history with links, which you can search with Ctrl+F. This is also the way to find videos older than the in-app window.

How to delete or clear your TikTok watch history

You can delete single videos or clear the whole list from the Watch history screen, which is handy on a shared phone:

  1. Open Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Activity center → Watch history.
  2. To remove individual videos, tap Select (or press and hold a thumbnail, depending on your version), pick the videos, and tap Delete.
  3. To clear everything, choose Select all, then Delete, and confirm.

Deleting watch history doesn't touch your liked videos, favorites or comments. Some app versions also let you turn watch history off from the settings icon at the top of the Watch history screen, so new views aren't saved.

Watch history vs. the "viewed" features other people can see

Watch history is only for you: nobody else can see it. People often confuse it with features that are visible to others, and two of those work differently:

Story viewer lists are separate again: watching someone's story while logged in always puts you in their list.

How to keep a TikTok so you don't lose it

Save it to your Favorites or download a copy. Watch history has a time limit, and creators can delete or privatize videos at any point, which removes them from your history too. If a video matters to you (a recipe, a tutorial, a clip of a friend), save it:

Prefer not to build a history at all? Watching through Tikvue's browser viewer doesn't use your TikTok account, so nothing is added to your watch history, and it doesn't shape your For You feed either. It works for public videos and profiles only.

Frequently asked questions

Can other people see my TikTok watch history?

No. Watch history is private to your account. It's separate from post view history and profile view history, which are the features that can show other people what you viewed.

Why is my TikTok watch history empty?

Usually because you watched while logged out or on a different account, the history was cleared, the videos are older than the retention window, or the feature isn't available in your app version yet. Updating the app often fixes a missing Watch history option.

Does watch history include stories and LIVE videos?

Generally no. Watch history is built around regular videos and photo posts, and stories and LIVE streams generally don't show up in the list. So if you're hunting for an old story, ask the creator or check their Highlights.

Does clearing watch history reset my For You page?

No. Clearing watch history removes the list you can browse, but it's not the same as resetting your feed. TikTok has a separate Refresh your For You feed option under Content preferences if you want a fresh start.

Can I see a video I watched on TikTok without an account?

No. Watch history is tied to a logged-in account, so anything you watched while logged out isn't recorded. If you remember the creator, you can find the video again on their profile.
